EDM Mailroom is a core component of the EDM Paperless suite of managed services and technologies. EDM Mailroom receives organisations’ redirected mail so that it can be prepared and digitised before any processing by the organisation’s staff.
This eliminates physical document handling and the problems that paper-based working has, including costs of storage and retrieval, risks of document damage and loss, and difficulties in information sharing and integration with other systems.
Within EDM Mailroom, received documents - redirected to EDM via a dedicated PO Box - are opened, categorised and sorted, scanned into digital format and have key data extracted – all to agreed service levels. The resulting digital images and data are then stored in EDM online (or an organisation’s document management system, if it has one) enabling all subsequent stages of processing to be screen-based and potentially automated.
EDM Mailroom can dramatically improve the efficiency of document-based processing, shortening processing times and enabling greater productivity without headcount growth. Customer service is enhanced and so are compliance and control.
